RARE Antique French Joan of Arc Plaque Signed by Ovide Yencesse c1900. We rarely come across a framed piece from Yencesse! A little bit of wear but overall in good condition. A true collector piece!

About Ovide Yencesse (source britishmuseum.org):
1869-1947. Medallist / sculptor. Studied at the Academy of Arts in Dijon; then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where studied under Ponscarme (q.v.), Levillain and Thomas. Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais, receiving an honorable mention in 1897 and a third-class medal in 1898. Awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle 1900, followed immediately by the Legion of Honor. Received a gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1910 and 1920. Director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Dijon. Member of the jury at the International Exposition 1937. His style imitated that of the painter Eugene Carrière, earning the nickname the "Carrière of medals". A large collection of his works are to be found in the Luxembourg Museum.
