The Fennel Forefathers shadow box is part of my “grandmothers and grandfathers” collection that brings plant life into the realm of our ancestors. Fennel is a plant rich in history and was thought to be the plant used to bring the fire of knowledge to humans by Prometheus. I grew and then dried the fennel root, stitched and embroidered using antique paper and antique silk kimono fabric. It is housed in a wooden shadow box that measures 7 x 9 inches and the art piece is 5 x 7 inches. It is one of a kind.
