Antique French Souvenir Jewelry Box view of Wissembourg France c1900. It has mother of pearl inlaid on the painted lid. The cushion has a little bit of wear and the glass is chipped on the front panel on the bottom on both sides (see photos). Other than that, in decent condition for its age.

"Eglomise" is the French name for the back-painted glass panels. That technique was used mostly in the second half of the 19th century up to 1910. Some of the souvenir boxes even have mother of pearl panels inlaid so that some parts shimmer with pearlescent light.
